“How you eat is a metaphor for how you live” – Fernanda
I created CómoComo in order to show the close relationship there is between eating and living, as it translates from Spanish, CómoComo means how to eat. As you can see if you browse through the site, there are also sections on what to eat, when to eat, where to eat, and with whom to eat (interviews), but CómoComo in essence is about the HOWs in life; how we eat and how we live.
It’s more interesting to look at what we are constantly putting into our lives, rather than just at what we’re putting in our mouths.
People focus so much on what to eat – all different kinds of nutrition theories saying different things and adding way too much stress on the what that we’ve lost touch with the how; how we’re really eating. Whether or not we’re enjoying our meal, if we’re eating slowly, if we’re breathing, or if we’re even putting our fork down; most people don’t even put their fork down in one whole meal!
Our emotions affect our mind, and our mind affects our metabolism and our ability to digest food. HOW we eat, and WHO we are as eaters deeply affects the way we digest and metabolize our food. At the end of the day the kind of food you eat, the amount of food you eat, and the quality of food you eat depends on who you are as an eater. Once we become healthy inside (on an emotional, psychological and spiritual level), we will inevitably choose healthier options on the outside (physical level).
Who we are in the deepest part of our being profoundly impacts the chemistry of our body.
Good nutrition is a matter of how well our body can digest, assimilate and absorb nutrients; similarly, a good life is really a matter of how well we can digest, assimilate, and absorb all the moments in it. Living just like eating, is a process of taking in, digesting that, and letting go of what we don’t need… so let’s not just stay stuck talking about food nutrition here, let’s talk about life nutrition too.
